USE CASES

Cloud security for startups

You have a small team, no dedicated security hire and one or two cloud accounts, and a customer has just sent a security questionnaire. This page is for deciding whether Secorvia fits that situation, and for being clear about where it does not.

Who this fits

The team this suits is small enough that nobody owns security full time. The cloud estate is one or two accounts, perhaps on AWS, Google Cloud, Azure or DigitalOcean, and it grew by adding things when they were needed. Nobody has a complete picture of what is public, which identities can do what, or which of the findings a scanner might raise would matter.

That is the gap Secorvia is built for. It connects with a read-only credential, collects an inventory, and ranks findings by what an attacker could reach, so a short list of things to fix first replaces a long list sorted by severity. It does not replace a person who decides what to do, and it does not fix anything for you.

What the free plan covers

The Free plan costs nothing, has no expiry and needs no credit card. It allows one account per provider and three users. On it you get the findings list with evidence and remediation guidance, vulnerability intelligence, and infrastructure as code scanning for one project. You can schedule scans, assign findings to people and keep a comment trail on each one.

It does not include the security graph, attack paths, compliance views or report generation, which start on the Starter plan. That matters when you read the ranking claims on this site: the reachability ranking is a Starter feature, and on Free you get the findings and the triage workflow without it. Audit log retention is 30 days on Free. The pricing page has every limit side by side.

A first afternoon

Create the read-only credential in your cloud account and connect it, following the connection guide for your provider. Connecting starts the first scan. Wait for it to finish, because an empty list while the scan is still running is not a clean result, and check the inventory to see what was collected.

Then read the dashboard in order: critical and high findings first, then internet exposure and identity risk. Open a finding and read its evidence and remediation, assign it to someone, and make the change in your cloud account. Run a new scan. A finding you mark resolved is only verified once a scan no longer detects it, which is the part of the loop that is easy to skip when nobody owns it. The quickstart walks through the same sequence.

After that, put the account on a schedule so the check does not depend on someone remembering. Scans can run hourly, daily, weekly or monthly, and notifications can tell your team by email, Slack, Microsoft Teams or Discord when a critical or high finding appears or a scan fails.

When a customer sends a questionnaire

Secorvia is not a questionnaire tool, and this page does not claim it fills one in. The answers are yours to write. What it gives you is a record that makes some of them easy to write truthfully.

  • Continuous checking. Scan history shows that the account is assessed on a schedule, and that each scan completed or failed.
  • Ownership and follow-up. A finding carries an assignee, a comment trail and a timeline of who changed its state and when, and it can be marked verified only after a scan no longer reproduces it.
  • Read-only access. The connection never asks for write access to your infrastructure, which is a short, checkable answer to a question about third-party access to your cloud.
  • Roles. Members are Owner, Admin, Analyst or Read-Only, and changes made through an API key are attributed to the service identity that owns it.

From the Starter plan you can also generate compliance and findings reports for a chosen period, and the compliance views map findings to SOC 2, ISO 27001, CIS and NIST CSF. A compliance snapshot is not a certification and does not replace an audit. If a customer asks for one, the compliance page covers what the evidence does and does not show.

Where it does not fit

Secorvia reports problems and does not fix them, so someone on your team still has to read the list and make the changes. A scan is a snapshot of the account at the time it ran. Oracle Cloud and Alibaba Cloud accounts cannot be connected. If your whole estate is a handful of resources that one person already checks by hand each month, a scanner may add little beyond a reminder.

When the estate grows past three accounts per provider or ten users, Starter is the next step, and Growth adds identity analysis, the executive dashboard and full API access.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a security person to use Secorvia?

No. But someone has to own the findings. Secorvia ranks them and gives remediation guidance, and a person on your team makes the change and confirms it with a new scan.

Does the free plan expire?

No. Free has no expiry and needs no credit card. It allows one account per provider and three users.

Can Secorvia answer a customer security questionnaire for me?

No. It is not a questionnaire tool. It gives you scan history, ownership on each finding, read-only access and, from the Starter plan, reports you can attach or cite.

Does it need an agent in my cloud account?

No. Cloud posture scanning is agentless and uses a read-only credential. Collectors exist only for Kubernetes cluster posture and runtime security, and you can leave both out.

When should I move from Free to Starter?

When you need more than one account per provider, more than three users, or the security graph, attack paths, compliance views and reports, which all start on Starter.
